the blog for the British chapter of media aces is now open. We have been very busy cleaning up the main original platform so as to keep languages and areas separate from each other. The French chapter is made available at http://france.medi-aces.org. The UK chapter’s address is http://uk.media-aces.org. The European hub page remains at http://media-aces.org

IABC, the International Association of Business Communicators, published on their Social Media Release blog the results of their last survey. This survey provides interesting hints about SOcial Media usage by communication professionals, especially regarding the raise of new tools like Twitter of Facebook.
Key Findings:
- Almost four-fifths (79 percent) of the respondents report that they use social media frequently to engage employees and foster productivity, outranking even email (75 percent).
- Company blogs are the most popular social media tool currently in use (47 percent), with discussion boards ranking the highest for future planned use (33 percent).
- Current use of social networking sites such as Twitter (21 percent), Yammer (20 percent), and Facebook (18 percent) is significant, but organizations are planning to use those tools even more in the future.
One of the most interesting results of this survey is that IABC members consider social media as a way to preserve their "engagement level", despite reduced communication and marketing budgets.
The IABC is an international association, with representatives in several countries, including France and UK.

née Web 2.0). To many a big logo, social media is fascinating in more than many ways, to others it’s a no go area for serious brands, and best left off to techies. However strong the opinions they may express, in either direction, these aren’t always backed up by fact. Let’s review some of these arguments and feel free to comment and add your thoughts. Part one of this article is dedicated to the …

In our previous article about social media, we have described the 8 reasons why managers love social media and we have also debunked a few commonplace myths. In this new instalment we’ll look at the flip side of corporate social media perception, the negative one, and we will also discuss the rationale behind each of these arguments.

Media Aces is now on Facebook. We have created a ne Facebook group in order to enable members and fans to exchange information on the organisation. The group is a first stage in the building up of the community. The facebook group will also come in handy when it comes to exchange ideas and information about oru forthcoming events such as the Sept 14 unconference of the French chapter which will take place at the Grande Arche in La Défense in Paris.
